Alexandra Maria Lara, a Romanian and German actor who is employed on TV and in films is best known for films such as Rush as well as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. As the only child to Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra got into the world of show business early, and ended up playing lead roles in different television dramas by the time she was sixteen. Her critically acclaimed performance in the television film Der Tunnel paved way for many other noteworthy roles, including the role of the secretary of Adolf Hitler Traudl Junge, in the commercially and critically profitable Oscar nominated historical war film Downfall. The Reader as well as Der Baader Meinhof Komplex were also nominated for Oscars. Alexandra's work has led her to work on a number of notable international and national projects. Some of these include British biographical films, the British Control Greek Drama film The Dust of Time French Historical Miniseries Napoleon and many others. She also remained member of the jury for the Cannes Film Festival and the Transylvania International Film Festival.
